Orange County Democratic Black Caucus of Florida Endorses Tom Keen for Orlando City Council 1
ORLANDO – Tom Keen, candidate for Orlando City Commissioner District 1, announced a new endorsement today from the Orange County Democratic Black Caucus of Florida.
“Tom Keen is the candidate for Florida’s future. His grassroots campaign has reached out to voters directly and has proven himself to be a driven leader for Orlando,” said Orange County Black Caucus President Russell Drake. “The incumbent Republican commissioner, Jim Gray, is defending outdated beliefs at a time we need forward-thinking leaders.”
“Jim Gray is a vestige of the past,” added Drake, who is also the statewide Vice President of the Democratic Black Caucus of Florida.
Orlando’s City District 1 is the fastest growing district in the state. It encapsulates a diverse community with unique needs and opportunities that require strong leadership to grow successfully and responsibly.
“I am honored to receive support from the Orange County Democratic Black Caucus of Florida. We share a vision of a more inclusive and prosperous District 1.” said Tom after receiving their endorsement.
This is Keen’s eighth endorsement. Keen has received support from Representative Amy Mercado, State Senator Victor Torres, the Democratic Veterans Caucus of Central Florida, the AFL-CIO of Florida, SEIU Florida, the Democratic Hispanic Caucus of Florida, and Ironworkers Local 808.
Ballots have been mailed out and early voting began at the Orange County Supervisor of Elections (119 W. Kaley, Orlando 32806) and runs from October 30 to November 5. Election Day for the City of Orlando is November 7, 2017.
